Painter, photographer, sculptor. He was born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Spain and died on January 23, 1989 there. In 1922 Dali went to Madrid to study at the San Fernando School of Arts. At that time he experimented with the art of cubism and dadaism, whose subtle poetics had been of interest to him all his life. At San Fernando, Dalí met Luis Buñuel and the poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Dali never finished this art school because he was fired shortly before his final examinations because he said that none of his professors were competent enough to test him.
