Jaroslav Černý

He was born on 1 June 1904 in Pilsen and died in 1984 in Černošice. He came from a poor working class family. His remarkable talent and artistic creativity were apparent in the elementary school when he first exhibited his drawings. He learned to paint and draw in Pilsen with Professor Skupa and at the painting school of Professor Proškovec. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague from 1936 to 1938 under prof. Max Švabinský and prof. Otakar Nejedly. His artistic development was also greatly influenced by a study trip with the painter František Kupka to Italy, France and Austria. He painted landscapes, figural and industrial motifs. The first mention of his participation in the exhibition dates from 1947 in the catalog of Czech painters at the exhibition in Rio de Janeiro. He replaced various art techniques in his lifelong work. He found themes of his works especially in the Czech landscape, which he was able to portray with an immense artistic feeling. He is rightly called "poet of the Czech landscape". He has exhibited with great success at many exhibitions at home, in Europe and in South America. He has received many awards and awards for his artistic work. His works can be seen in the Prague City Gallery, at state and embassies and in private collections at home and abroad.
